Wednesday's "What They Really Believe": The Christian Right Part 1

Today's Dark Skin Disbeliever has been brought to you by The Bible Belt.

Givin' America the whoopin sho nuff needs!

I am so happy to have followers, visitors and even detractors (there isn't that many who comment on the site). You all have been such a driving force in helping me to put my two cents into the world of Atheism. Thank you so much. Enough with the pleasantries.

This blog is not so much about Atheism. It is more about trying to change society. If you are dying and think that you are going to into the sky to meet your relatives, that's fine with me. I think it's laughable the more I really sit and ponder it through imagination. Whatever. This country is designed for people to believe whatever the hell they want. As long as it stays separate from the state, it's all good.

That seems like a perfect idea on paper. I say on paper because it is not in the Constitution. It has been implied by the founding slavemasters fathers. It has also been applied in many forms of our government. Many people have the belief that The State and all churches are completely separate and exclusive entities. There are far too many different religions and denominations to define what "The Church" is in this country. So the idea is apples and oranges.

I think that the Separation of Church and State has not worked. It has never been properly applied. Laws and regulation have been put in place to try to control and enforce this idea, but it just has not worked. This is for various different reasons. I will leave the Separation of Church and State for political science professors or another time. Today I would like to discuss a group of individuals that - if unchecked - has the potential to undermine our system of government. That is a pretty brash statement. I will try to throw some facts in there, sprinkle it with a little opinion, always deep fried in truth. Today we will cook up some bullshit with

THE CHRISTIAN RIGHT.

Most of the people that I come in contact with on a regular basis are ignorant. They range from the barely literate to learned men and women. Out of everyone that I know or are acquainted with, the majority don't know what the fuck they are talking about. The best example of this is evolution. Try this out for yourself. Call, email, text (who does anything in person?) ten of your friends who are either theists or have no scientific background. Ask them "In a few words, what do you think about Evolution?" The majority of them will probably say that they do not believe in evolution and mention something about monkeys and apes. So people don't know and after correcting them, you realize that they don't care that they don't know what the fuck they are talking about.

I know what you are thinking. "But DSD, that's science. That's a hard subject." Okay. I'll give you that. So is law, but people try to educate themselves to have a basic understanding of it for many useful reasons. The primary reason being "Ignorantia juris non excusat" or "Ignorance of the law does not excuse." A much more easier subject is history. It's so simple that it has already fucking happened. You don't have to really break shit down. Some historian has already done this for you. All you have to know how to do is read it. You would think that before being part of a voluntary religion, group, political party or idea, that people would at least know its history. We don't seem to be living in a world of "Ignorantia historia non excusat" I highly fucking doubt that the Christian Right lives by this philosophy. I apologize if I butchered the latin.

Allow me to quickly break it down for you (in very laymen terms of course).

Picture the scene. It's the mid 1960s. You are white male, protestant, and democrat. You have more power and numbers than any other group. But it's not like you didn't have any chink in that armor. You have already seen a Catholic become president and get assassinated. Now Negroes would like the exact same thing that you have. The new democratic president is determined to integrate. Meanwhile, Republicans are offering just the opposite. You became a Republican because you wanted to keep up the status quo. All the injustices and equalities mattered little to these men. No change was the best change.

Flash forward to the late 70s and early 80s. Conservative ministers feel that the Republican Party has no direction. It is no coincidence that people like Jerry Falwell and Paul Weyrich took conservatism in a whole new direction. I mean this motherfucker Falwell was a pro segregationist. Weyrich was a promoter of ethnic nationalism. That sounds exactly how it looks. They think a nation should have a common ethnicity. Anyway, by 1980, Reagan and The Christian were in the White House and a full force.

I have said before that I don't want to get into politics. I don't believe this is political though. But you can follow the timeline or do the research yourself. The Conservatives are full of shit because of their politics. They were born out of that southern racist bullshit. That's fine. Whatever. Like I said before, you have to know where the shit comes from. Aren't we better than racist redneck ministers like Jerry Falwell? I mean the the religion is fucked up as it is. Now you have Conservatives and Republicans all together in this bond with Christianity as it's adhesive.

You can make your own conclusion about whatever you want. You can be a Republican. You can be Conservative. Your bullshit political stance matters less to me. But when you attach this 2,000 year old religion to your politics, then I have a problem. It doesn't seem to even matter what kind of Christian you are. As long as you wear your religion on your sleeve and say you are a "good Christian", you will have churches all over the country sucking your balls (or whatever the female equivalent is).

Where did the Christian right lead us? What kind of country do we live in? Do you know what they believe? Is this truly a Christian society?

I did the past. Next week, we will discuss the present state of our union. For now, I just want you to dwell on the facts. The Christian religion is ancient and archaic and so are the rednecks who promote and perverse it in our politics.

  1. I believe that most political parties are religious , Democrat or Republican. They all want religion in the mix, to gain more powerand to promote them; appearing to be trusting ; when in fact they are nontrusting things. Religion is the destroyer of man.
